Padak Mrogdish turned out to be a grizzled Orc warrior. He told Trabyna that he was going to Sen’jin Village to visit a friend, so escorting her to The Valley of Trials wasn’t really out of his way. Trabyna looked at the aging Orc and wondered how much protection he could offer but as he strode through the Orgimmar Gate he set a brisk pace, proving that appearances were deceptive; getting on in years he might be, stiff and slow he was not. The walk to Razor Hill was uneventful, in fact a little dull as Padak proved to be a rather taciturn companion. They stopped for some lunch, more to escape the blazing heat of the midday sun than from a need to rest. Once on their way again Trabyna got to see the old warrior in action. All of a sudden Padak stopped and raised a finger to his lips. Trabyna followed his gaze and saw a large scorpid heading towards them; she had seen similar creatures in the distance from the safety of Orgrimmar but never this close. All of a sudden Padak charged and, faster than Trabyna’s inexperienced eye could follow, swung his sword, despatching the creature with a single blow. Read more »

“You useless, worthless…” Megdar paused, casting around for a suitable insult to hurl at her daughter. Trabyna bowed her head and steeled herself for what she knew was coming next. “Oh why didn’t the Gods bless me with a son” wailed Megdar. “Why did they have to burden me with a useless daughter?” Trabyna kept her head down and stared at the floor, steeling herself against the rising anger that burned inside her; she didn’t dare raise her head and look at her mother, she didn’t think she’d be able to reign in her anger if she looked her mother in the eye. Trabyna was an Orc hunter that I created back in my earliest days on Moonglade almost 2 years ago. She was part of a wonderful guild called The Council of Elders. We were very new and very small but I learned a lot about good RP there. Sadly it fell apart when the guild leader went AWOL and I ended up focusing my attention on Hulan. Poor Trabyna never got past the high forties and I recently deleted her, having left her languishing for over a year. My very first RP stories were written about Trabyna and I’m posting them here so they are somewhere “safe”, just in case my PC ever blows up! The sharp-eyed may also notice Trabyna in one of Hulan’s stories.

The noise and bustle of Stormwind faded as Hulan stared at the stark, black words that leaped out from the pale paper. Your Ma…fading fast…come home Thrusting the paper into her bag, Hulan turned and raced through Stormwind towards the Gryphon roost. Ignoring angry exclamations as she barged by slow-moving pedestrians Hulan ran like she’d never run before. Pushing to the front of the queue, yelling “Ironforge, I need ta get ta Ironforge”, she thrust a handful of gold coins at the startled gryphon master who pointed dumbly at a nearby beast. Vaulting on to it’s back, she kicked it hard spurring it into flight and soared up into the sky. She fretted all the way to Ironforge, muttering to herself “Let me get there in time” and occasionally grumbling at the Gryphon, “Come on yer mangy lump o’ fur an’ feathers, can ye no go any faster than this? I could walk there faster than ye can fly!” Read more »

Hulan and Borron sat in their “secret” place overlooking Elwynn Forest. The campfire Borron had made was dying down and he reluctantly removed his arm from around Hulan and stirred himself to build it up again. Hulan hugged her knees and followed him with her eyes, fiddling with the red ribbon tied around her wrist. Borron turned from the fire to see Hulan’s grin illuminated by the re-kindled flames. Hulan dismounted and tethered her ram, Cloud, to a tree near to the little stone house. She adjusted her armour and grinned down at the white bear by her side. “Come on Blanche” she said quietly. The bear followed her and stood patiently while she knocked hard on the door. Thorden Stonefist opened the door, his eyes widening with surprise at the sight of his daughter.
“What are ye knockin’ at tha door like a stranger fer?” he asked.
Hulan stood to attention and saluted solemnly. “Hulan Stonefist, Defender o’ tha Shield Canton o’ Tha Keepers o’ tha Light….fully fledged hunter, reportin’ fer duty.”
Thorden’s face broke into a beaming smile and he opened his arms wide sweeping her up in a fierce hug, “Woohoo! Ye finished yer trainin’?!”
Hulan nodded, grinning broadly at him “Aye…I’ve finished me trainin’. O’course I still ‘ave a lot ta learn but tha formal trainin’s done, now it’s jes’ a matter o’ buildin’ up me experience.” Read more »

“Aaaaaaaaagh!” Nulyn screamed as she slammed the door. Thorden came running, hammer in hand, to see his wife pale and trembling. “B-b-bear,” she stammed in response to his unspoken question.
“Move away fra’ th’door lassie,” said Thorden pulling her towards him. Nulyn watched, hands to her mouth, as Thorden adjusted his grip on the hammer, squared his shoulders and started to open the door. He peered round the edge of the door and, to his wife’s astonishment, burst out laughing. “Tha’s no a bear, it’s our wee lassie Hulan!”
Nulyn scowled and pulled Thorden away from the door and opened it wide. Indeed, there stood a sheepish looking Hulan and behind Hulan there was a large white bear. Read more »

“I’m so sorry Pa”, whispered Hulan, her voice cracking as she struggled to hold back her tears. Thorden Stonefist looked into his daughter’s brimming eyes and felt a lump rise in his throat.
“Aw lassie”, he said reaching across the table to pat her hand “Ye cannae force yesel’ tae be somethin’ yer not. I know ye really wanted to be a Paladin but was it really fer the right reason?”
Hulan sighed, “Nay, I suppose not. I jes’ wanted ter make you and Ma proud of me an’ I wanted to serve the light like you both have.” Read more »

Every now and again I come across something that make me think “Doh! Why didn’t I think of that!” Both my mage and my priest are tailors and both have been able to make Netherweave Nets for some time but I have never made a single one. The mage was levelled as deep frost and the priest as shadow, I never thought I needed a net. Why? Well, by the time Wini had finished casting all her frosty goodness that even if a mob does run it’s going so slowly it’s an easy job to finish it off before it gets far; if she needs to escape then nova, blink and leg it (that sounds like a firm of solicitors!). As for Hulan, her victims were dotted and being flayed alive, again something that slows them considerably and for escapes it was usually something along the lines of bubble, fear and run like hell.
